Anderson Elementary School

Through the winter and the spring of 2019 we have been continuing to dig into representing Big Ideas through student voice in the form of quotes and through the use of documentation panels. As you walk around the school, you can see, and hear, many different examples of how teachers and students are using language, photos, big ideas, and reflections on the core competencies to deepen their understanding of why the Big Ideas of their learning are important.   Teachers who are intentionally using Core Competency language and who are making learning visible to their students, regularly drawing their attention back to the Big Ideas, are rewarded with very insightful student reflections.

We are finding that students are excited to share their learning in this way, that their articulation of what they are learning and the importance of that has deepened significantly over the last three years of this inquiry focus.
