Math and Community
Guided by Ms.Yau and Div. 2's Grade 6/7 class, the students of Anderson decorated popsicle sticks with positive messages. Div. 2 then had to mathematically organize the sticks for presentation in a framed piece which will be mounted on a wall. What is the area of a stick? Are they all the same size (no, some big and some small)? How can we arrange them into a rectangle? What is the area of the plywood we will need for all of the sticks? So much math! So much community building! This is a perfect example of how we marry math and community, for the new direction in our school story.
