We’re excited to begin our journey of learning and growing together as a community!

For our first professional development day of the school year, we wanted to dedicate important time to building connections and mapping out our goals for the year. With a number of new staff members, this day provided a great opportunity to get to know one another and welcome those who are new to the team.

To support our school goal of Supporting Growth in Literacy Through the Pillars of Literacy, the Professional Development Committee allocated time for staff teams to focus on our plans for literacy. The following questions were explored in grade groups:

• Where are we with our current practice in literacy instruction?
• How do we use the Pillars of Literacy in our teaching practice?
• Where do you want to go with your literacy practice? What do you need to make this happen?

We encourage you to review the attached document for responses from the different grade groups, as well as the ideas and suggestions that emerged during the discussions. Overall, the feedback from staff regarding the experience was positive, with many sharing that the time was invaluable in helping to design literacy instruction as we move forward into the 2024-2025 school year.
