The below is a line to an online survey that parents can fill out at their own convenience and provide input regarding the safety and potential regulation of trampoline parks. The survey will be open only until April 17.

The survey is being conducted by Delaney + Associates (D+A), a Vancouver-based stakeholder engagement firm.

D+A has been hired by Technical Safety BC to conduct engagement with key stakeholders on the safety of indoor trampoline parks. Technical Safety BC is an independent, self-funded organization that oversees installation and operation of technical systems and equipment across British Columbia, including a class of systems known as Amusement Devices. In addition to this oversight role, Technical Safety BC works with industry to reduce safety risks through education, outreach and research.

While some Amusement Devices, such as rollercoasters and waterslides, are currently regulated in B.C., others are not currently regulated, such as bungee devices, go-karts, indoor climbing walls, and trampolines. Due to the potential safety risks of these currently non-regulated Amusement Devices, and because of recent incidents at indoor trampoline parks, in particular the fatality in B.C. in early 2018, Technical Safety BC has been asked to make a recommendation to the Provincial Government about whether indoor trampoline parks and similar facilities should be regulated.

D+A believes that parents of elementary-school children are an important stakeholder in this discussion as elementary-school children are frequent attendees of trampoline parks. For this reason, D+A would like to receive input on this important subject from the parent community.
