GIRLsmarts4tech Workshops

The Committee on Outreach, Diversity, and Equity at UBC, in partnership with SAP, is offering GIRLsmarts4tech workshops for the fifteenth year. GIRLsmarts4tech workshops encourage young women in grade 7 to become interested in technology, mathematics and sciences.

GIRLsmarts4tech Grade 7 Workshops:
GIRLsmarts4tech is a Computer Science workshop designed for grade 7 girls put on by UBC's Department of Computer Science and SAP. At GIRLsmarts4tech, girls gain hands-on experience in broad topics in Computer Science: building their own webpages, designing user-friendly software (like iPhone apps), programming a robot or a video game.

Two full-day workshops for Grade 7 girls on October 27, 2018 and February 9, 2019. Their location is at SAP, 910 Mainland St. Vancouver. Both workshops are currently full, but if you would like to be waitlisted, please sign up using this link: https://apps.cs.ubc.ca/girlsmarts4tech/

GIRLsmarts4tech Parents’ Workshop:
Parents with daughters who are in Grades 6 – 12 are invited to a special parent workshop held at SAP on Saturday October 27th, where they can learn more about ways in which they can support their daughters in the field of computer science and technology. Fantastic panelists will be there to talk about their experiences as well as answer any questions. Parents will also be provided a special tour of the SAP office to gain insight on what it is like to work at a software company. Sign-in will take place from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm at the SAP office, 910 Mainland St. and the discussion with the panelists will run from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. The talk will be followed by an office tour.
